Using chipboard and adhesive, I created a three-dimensional abstract model that represents a combination of ideation sketches. As I was sketching, I started imagining a color scheme. My favorite color is red, so naturally, I chose a monochromatic color palette. By manipulating the rigid chipboard into curvilinear shapes and contrasting it with rectilinear shapes and forms, I noticed how the severity of red could be transformed into a playful hue. Historically, rouge has been used to highlight the apples of cheeks, natural blush, and emphasize soft lips. Rouge can be ethereal, harsh, or both at the same time.
